About the customer

Industry: Security
Needs: Private connectivity, cross-border connectivity, latency reduction, network reliability
Zenlayer services used: IP Transit, Cloud Networking, Edge Colocation

Our customer, a market-leading global security services provider, specializes in providing SaaS-based security solutions like SASE and Zero Trust to enterprise customers around the world. The company focuses on routing sensitive traffic securely across global regions, effectively replacing traditional VPNs and SD-WAN connectivity to ensure reliable and efficient delivery. In order to offer enterprises secure connections and low-latency access to sites and applications worldwide, they needed to establish a robust and easily scalable network infrastructure that could support their advanced security services and meet the stringent demands of their clients.

The challenge: overcoming complex regional dynamics to establish a robust network in the Asia-Pacific

As a key part of their strategic expansion, the security services provider wanted to build out an extensive, high-speed network in the Asia-Pacific to improve service quality for users in the region. Their initial project involved setting up colocation facilities in China, along with four data centers located in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. To complement these colocation sites, the company needed local IP transit and private, global connectivity from each location back to Singapore.

Faced with the complexity of China’s stringent compliance landscape and the difficulty of sourcing cost-effective, low-latency local networks in the Asia-Pacific, the leading security services provider approached Zenlayer to help them establish a secure, reliable network to bridge their distributed locations in China.

Creating a high-performance Asia-Pacific network

Through Zenlayer’s partnership with the top three telecom providers in China, the customer was able to establish a comprehensive, easily scalable, and high-speed network that achieved superior metrics over their previous provider. Our premium regional network blend empowered the global security services provider to improve the performance and reliability of their services — crucial for their secure SaaS-based products.

The customer was so impressed with the quality of Zenlayer’s network that they shifted their primary provider to Zenlayer. Moreover, our ability to operate and standardize services across multiple global regions helped ensure the quality of the customer’s services not just in China and the surrounding regions, but all over the world.

Accelerating strategic colocations and connectivity

Leveraging our global private backbone and rich ecosystem of data center providers worldwide, we helped the customer complete four colocation projects in China to ensure seamless transit and private, high-speed connectivity from Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen to Singapore. Further connectivity to other global data centers were provided by our longstanding partner, Megaport.

This strategic colocation and connectivity solution ensured that the security services provider can confidently provide global enterprise clients with fast and secure access to sites and applications worldwide. With the help of Zenlayer and our key partners, the customer swiftly and successfully expanded their infrastructure across the APAC region and beyond, enabling them to quickly capture emerging opportunities.

Securely interconnecting key locations across seven countries

Over the past year, the customer leveraged Zenlayer’s economy of scale to gain cost-effective access to China’s premium CN2 line, establishing connections to Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Los Angeles in order to get as close as possible to their customers in China to ensure minimal latency.

In total, the security services provider employed our extensive global footprint to securely interconnect 14 key locations in Thailand, India, Singapore, Vietnam, Japan, China, and the United States. Drawing on our decades-long partnerships with the top ISPs throughout the Asia-Pacific and beyond, we provided the customer with premium IP transit in these regions that supported both their local and global connectivity needs, ensuring a consistent quality of service that helps ensure client satisfaction and consequently, retention, worldwide.

Looking ahead

Zenlayer’s extensive network, global partnerships, and agile, responsive approach — detached from the lengthy bureaucracy typical of global connectivity providers — enabled the customer to easily and cost-effectively achieve their strategic goals, enhancing their global service offerings. As we continue to work together, we look forward to supporting the customer’s future expansion goals and ensuring the speed, reliability, and security of their Asia-Pacific network infrastructure.
